Blockchain & FinTech Lawyer

What you will be doing

• Advisor to entrepreneurs and decision-makers: As a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and decision-makers, you will provide fast-growing startups and established companies with the expertise and counsel they need to achieve their vision in the blockchain and financial market regulatory sector. 

• (Global) Expert in various fields: You will further develop your legal and commercial expertise while at the forefront of innovation, working with digital financial services, payment solutions, stablecoins, L1s and L2s, DeFi, DAOs, token offerings, real world asset tokenizations, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), and NFTs. You’ll interact with German BaFin and European authorities, diving into regulations like MiCA, KWG, ZAG, and European regulation. While a good portion of the work focuses on regulatory matters, our practice is also heavily involved at the intersection of financing (token, equity, debt), contract drafting and negotiation, IP, M&A (token swaps, asset deals, share deals) and taxation (corporate income tax, VAT). While you will focus on Germany and the EU, you will also work closely with our partners in other important crypto jurisdictions, attend international events and expand our network as we strive towards offering global support to our clients. 

• Leader: We support your personal growth by helping you develop leadership skills in practical settings. You’ll lead projects from the get-go and have the opportunity to build up and manage (if you choose!) a team. 

• Business (wo)man: You’ll identify growth opportunities, create new products, and help expand LEXR’s client base through sales and business development, supported by our growth team. 

What is required

• Fluent German and English: You’ll work with both local and international customers. Fluent German and English skills are essential.  

• Interest: You should have a strong interest in all things Blockchain, Crypto and FinTech. Our fast-paced environment requires curiosity about our clients’ business models and staying up-to-date with the latest legal and tech developments. Our clients value our hands-on approach and practical experience, so familiarity with digital assets and the business models around them is essential. We’re looking for someone who has invested in digital assets before, set up wallets to manage their tokens, used a DeFi app and so on. 

• Experience: Ideally, we are looking for someone with at least two years of work experience in the Blockchain, Crypto and FinTech space, either as in-house, external counsel or former project founder. Even if you do not bring such background, we believe genuine interest and curiosity trumps experience. Therefore, if you can show a record of your engagement in the space, please apply nonetheless – we would love to meet you!  

• Qualification: Having the German second state examination in law is a plus. We also encourage candidates with non-traditional backgrounds to apply.

• IT affinity: We are 99% digital and constantly test out new tools to improve our work environment and customer experience. Proficiency in MS Office is required, and additional IT skills are a plus.
