EU Blockchain Compliance Expert (MiCA & AML)

Remote-EU, with option to work from our Berlin, Lisbon or Zurich office, 100%  

LEXR is a fast-growing law firm for global tech, fintech and blockchain companies with 30+ team members across four current offices in Switzerland and Berlin as well as a US desk. We are now looking for a compliance expert that is passionate about enabling blockchain and fintech companies across Europe to complement our thriving Web3 practice group. In this role, you will advise blockchain and fintech projects on their compliance with EU blockchain regulations (in particular MiCA) as well as AML regulations. You will be working closely with the six LEXR team members that are fully focused on blockchain, crypto & fintech matters. The current practice mainly covers Swiss and EU law with strong ties to partners in all relevant jurisdictions such as the US, UAE, Singapore or offshore locations. On top, you have the full backing of our centralized support teams on LegalTech and AI tools, operations, marketing, sales, and HR.

What you will be doing
  • Advisor to entrepreneurs and decision-makers: As a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and decision-makers, you will provide fast-growing startups and established companies with the expertise and counsel they need to achieve their vision in the blockchain and financial market regulatory sector. 
  • Compliance expert in various fields: You will guide our customers through the jungle of EU financial market regulations with a particular focus on MiCA, and you will assist companies with their AML compliance obligations. The activities range from defining the initial structuring of the customers’ setup in Europe to the assistance with obtaining licenses and ensuring ongoing compliance. While you will focus on the EU and Switzerland, you will also have a chance to work closely with our partners in other important crypto jurisdictions, attend international events and expand our network as we strive towards offering global support to our clients. 
  • Leader: We support your personal growth by helping you develop leadership skills in practical settings. You’ll lead projects from the get-go and have the opportunity to build up and manage (if you choose!) a team. 
  • Business (wo)man: You’ll identify growth opportunities, create new products, and help expand LEXR’s client base through sales and business development, supported by our growth team. 

 

What is required
  • Fluent English: You’ll work with both local and international customers. Fluent English skills are essential. German and/or French skills are an asset.  
  • Passion for blockchain and fintech businesses: You should have a strong interest in all things blockchain and fintech. Our fast-paced environment requires curiosity about our clients’ business models and staying up-to-date with the latest legal and tech developments. Our clients value our hands-on approach and practical experience, so familiarity with digital assets and the business models around them is essential.  
  • Experience: Prior relevant work experience is an asset, but we believe genuine interest and curiosity trumps experience. So please apply regardless of prior work experience, we would love to meet you!  
  • Qualification: Being a qualified lawyer is a plus, though not required. We also encourage candidates with non-traditional backgrounds to apply.
